Gas & Pellet Service in Arlington, WA

One visit, and it's ready the first cold night you want it.

The best thing about a gas or pellet fireplace is the simplicity of just turning on the warmth. One service visit keeps that true: cleaning, tune-up, and any repair, all in one appointment, so the first cold evening you want a fire, you just turn it on. Gas and pellet fireplaces and stoves, any brand.

What the visit covers?

Your technician takes the unit apart as far as it needs to go, cleans out a season’s worth of buildup, checks every part that wears, and runs it up to temperature to ensure everything is in working order.

Most common parts ride along in the truck — thermocouples, thermopiles, igniters, gaskets — so easy fixes get done during the visit. Larger repairs, like a gas valve, are either $15 per 15 minutes if we have the part and the time, or a $95 return trip. Parts are billed separately. You’ll get a quote before anything’s replaced.

Good to know

How it works

  • Book a visit. Call, text, or use the form. Tell us gas or pellet, and the brand if you know it.
  • Your technician comes out. Cleans, services, inspects, and tells you straight what they found — including when they found nothing.
  • Light it. And don’t think about it again until next fall.

Everything not on the covered list

Why is pellet more expensive than gas: More stove, more work. A pellet stove has a hopper, an auger, two fans, a burn pot, and an exhaust path that all collect a season’s worth of ash and dust — 24 points against 19 for gas. Cleaning it right takes closer to two hours than one.

Why is pellet priced by brand: Because time on site depends on the stove. The covered list — Whitfield, Avalon, Quadra-Fire, Lopi, Enviro, Breckwell, IHP, and Harman — is the brands we work on all season and know well. Everything else gets the same service; it just takes longer on a stove we’re seeing for the first time, and you know the price before we arrive rather than after. (Quadra-Fire Mt. Vernon models are priced at the other-brands rate.)

Why is the Mt Vernon priced differently: It’s Quadra-Fire’s most complex stove — more automation, more sensors, and more to take apart to do the full service. Same work as any other pellet stove, but it takes about as long as one we’re seeing for the first time, so it’s priced at the other-brands rate.

Not sure what you have: The brand is usually on a plate inside the hopper lid or on the back of the unit. Or give us a call and we can help.

Which

Service or inspection?

A service visit includes the inspection. An inspection is just the inspection.

Service is the full appointment on this page: your technician inspects the unit, cleans it, tunes it, fixes what’s fixable, and leaves it running the way it should — with a written summary of what they found. If you want the fireplace working, this is the one.

An inspection on its own is a $150 evaluation with a written report. Nothing’s cleaned or adjusted. It’s for a home sale, an insurance question, or when you want to know what you’re dealing with before spending more. If you only need the fireplace assessed, that’s the one.

Not sure which you need? Call — we can help you decide.

Do gas and pellet fireplaces need a chimney sweep?

No. Sweeping is for wood fireplaces and stoves. Wood smoke can leave a sticky buildup in the chimney that has to be brushed out regularly. Gas and pellet don’t burn that way, so there’s nothing to sweep.

Gas burns clean — mostly heat, water vapor, and carbon dioxide. A little film or soot can build up on the glass over a season, and a flame that’s burning off-color leaves more of it. That’s why the glass and burner get cleaned and the flame gets checked during service. Nothing collects in the vent that a brush would remove,.

Pellet vents a small amount of fine ash. It collects in the tee cap at the base of the vent, and emptying it is part of the pellet service. No brushes, no rooftop, no separate appointment.

If you burn wood — fireplace, stove, or insert — that’s the Wood Service & Chimney Sweep, $270 single story or $290 two-story. Have both a wood unit and a gas or pellet one? Book both and we’ll schedule them together where we can.

When should I book a service for my fireplace or stove?

Before you need it. September and October fill up, and the week of the first cold snap is the worst possible time to learn something. Once a year is the right rhythm for most units. Heavy winter use or an older stove might want a mid-season look.

FAQ

Common questions

How long does a service visit take?

Usually 30-60 minutes depending on the condition of the unit, if the technician finds anything that needs repaired, the brand, and if it’s gas vs pellet. If the unit takes longer than 60 minutes, additional charge of $15 per 15 min.

You hear about it that day with a price attached, and you decide. We do not fix things you did not approve and add them to the invoice. If it is a safety issue we will tell you plainly whether the unit is safe to run in the meantime, because that is the part that actually matters.
Yes. Most of what we service was installed by somebody else, often decades ago. Send us the make and model when you book so we can check parts availability in advance. That matters on older units where a needed part may be special order or no longer manufactured at all.

Some of it. Cleaning the glass, vacuuming dust, and replacing remote batteries are fine.

It takes a technician at least a year of training and apprenticeship before their ready to safely and efficiently work on fireplaces and stoves on their own.

We do. Installation starts with a $130 site check that’s credited to the job.
